US lawmakers agree to summon Kouchner and others to testify

The Justice Department's Justice Affairs Committee has agreed to summon Jared Kouchner and other advisers and aides to President Donald Trump to testify in an investigation with Trump.

The panel's decision allows for the recall of some 12 current and former Trump officials as part of Trump's investigation of the "obstruction of justice" case during the investigation of the prosecutor's team, Robert Mueller, in the alleged links to the Trump campaign in Russia.

"It includes government officials who worked or worked in the president's footnote," said committee chairman Gerold Nadler. "We will not stop until we get their testimony and documents."

Among the officials to be called to testify are Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kouchner, former prosecutor Jeff Sessions, former White House chief of staff John Kelly, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, former Trump campaign director 2016 Currie Levandowski and others.

The investigation by Robert Mueller did not prove any "conspiracy" between Donald Trump and Russia during his campaign. But an investigation was opened with Trump and his close associates on suspicion of trying to disrupt the investigation.
