Uruguay beat Ecuador in Copa America 2019 (Video)

The Uruguayans beat Uruguay 4-0 in the opening round of Group C of the Copa America 2019 in Brazil.

Uruguay opened early through Nicolas Lodeiro in the fifth minute, boosting their lead in the first half with two goals by Paris St Germain's Edison Cavani in the 32nd minute and Barcelona's Luis Suarez in the 44th minute.

Uruguay, who held the record in the competition with only 15 goals, had only one goal in the second half. It was a friendly shot by Ecuador defender Arturo Mina in the 78th minute.

Ecuador have played with 10 men since 24 minutes, after Jose Quintero was sent off for a shot by Ludero at the elbow after joining players in their fight for a high ball.

The Brazilian referee was given the yellow card in the face of the Ecuadorian defender before using VAR to cancel the yellow card and decide to expel him.

With the win, the Uruguayans scored their first 3 points to top the Group C, while Ecuador are on top of the table, waiting for the Chile-Japan match due to be held tonight.
