KUWAIT: Kuwait Oil Tanker Company expressed its readiness for any emergency in light of the oil tankers incident in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, stressing that its tankers are moving normally in the region.

The company said in a statement issued today that it had taken all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safe operation of its maritime fleet, noting that its vessels were not affected by "the recent unfortunate incidents in the Gulf of Oman and the region, Two carriers were attacked by an unknown side.

The company added that we are following up these incidents with the international maritime authorities concerned, stressing that they are in full turn and have a fleet of modern tankers of oil and gas at the highest level and complies with the specifications of global health and safety.

UK: We communicate with regional partners

For its part, the British government expressed its deep concern about reports of explosions and fires on the two vessels. "We are in contact with local authorities and partners in the region," the agency said.

A spokesman for British Prime Minister Teresa Mae confirmed that the London government is urgently seeking facts to reach the circumstances of what happened in the Gulf of Oman.

The incident occurred today, nearly a month after four merchant ships were hit by similar acts of sabotage on the coast of the UAE port of Fujairah. The United States blamed Iran for the incident.

The two carriers FRONT ALTAIR and KOKUKA COURAGEOUS, which carry the flag of the Marshall Islands and Panama respectively, were damaged by the accident today, and the Japanese Ministry of Commerce announced that they were carrying a cargo linked to Japan.

The official IRNA news agency reported the evacuation of 44 sailors from the two ships from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
