The European Union in Egypt celebrated with its partners the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on December 3 each year. The celebration is in line with the EU's strong commitment to support the integration of persons with disabilities and their full participation in society.
The European Union in Egypt, together with its partners the National Council for Disability, Handicap International and the Drosos Foundation, organized a joint event at the Wark Al Hadar Youth Center in Giza under the theme "Together to Empower Persons with Disabilities".
The event included many activities for persons with disabilities; sports, games or a talent program, as well as a panel discussion on empowerment and inclusiveness, according to a statement from the Embassy of the Delegation of the European Union in Cairo.
European Union Ambassador in Egypt, Ivan Sorcoush, said that the EU has supported over the past years the empowerment and integration of people with disabilities in Egypt through a number of important initiatives and projects amounting to 8.3 million euros.
