TEHRAN (Reuters) - US forces may have accidentally dropped a marching aircraft

Iran's deputy foreign minister, Abbas Araji, has denied Tehran's loss of any plane, after US President Donald Trump announced his jetliner was shot down by an Iranian marching aircraft on Thursday.

"We have not lost any aircraft in the Strait of Hormuz or anywhere else," an Iraqi said through Twitter this morning. "We are concerned that the American Boxer has accidentally shot down a US reconnaissance plane."

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran had no information about the loss of a marlin aircraft in the Gulf region.

Trump had announced yesterday that the American landing ship "Boxer" destroyed an Iranian marlin aircraft approached to less than a kilometer in the Strait of Hormuz.
