US Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard said in remarks broadcast on CNN that she would run for president in 2020.
"I decided to run and I will issue an official statement next week," said Gabard, who participated in the Iraq war in an interview with CNN on Friday.
The 37-year-old deputy said the main focus of her campaign would be on "the cause of war and peace."
On December 31, US Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren announced the formation of a committee to discuss her chances of running for president in November 2020.
