Qatar announces the success of the Doha Peace Conference in Afghanistan

The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced the success of the two-day Afghanistan Afghan Peace Conference sponsored by Qatar and Germany.

"More than 60 Afghans representing all sectors of Afghan society, including women, the Taliban and government representatives, met in their personal capacity for the first time," said Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, the Special Envoy of the Qatari Foreign Minister for Combating Terrorism and Conflict Resolution. To discuss ways to end the conflict in Afghanistan and achieve peace, where they dealt over a two-day wide range of issues of common concern, including the rights of women and minorities and a cease-fire, and the release of prisoners and prisoners and the withdrawal of foreign forces and the political future of Afghanistan.

"We are very pleased today to reach a joint statement as a first step to peace. We also thank them for their support for the ongoing talks in Qatar which they consider important and positive in ending the conflict in Afghanistan."

On July 7 and 8, Doha hosted a broad conference in the framework of peace efforts in Afghanistan attended by dozens of representatives from Kabul, the Taliban and civil society.

The conference participants pledged to prepare a "road map for peace, reduce violence", work for the return of displaced people and reject the interference of regional powers in Afghan internal affairs, according to the final communiqué of the negotiations.
