Australian police on Friday arrested a 20-year-old young man on suspicion of involvement in the rape and murder of Palestinian university student Aya Masarwa in Melbourne two days ago.
Police did not disclose the identity of the detainee, where he was arrested in Greensboro, a suburb of Melbourne near the train station where the girl was assaulted.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in an interview with reporters that Masarwa was sexually assaulted and then killed and her body was hidden near the train station, expressing shock at the brutal murder.
Masarwa is a 48-year-old Palestinian from Israel who holds Israeli citizenship. She is 21 years old and studied Chinese and English at a Shanghai university.
