America: North Korea was not clear about the closure of the Yongbyon facility

Ramallah – National Home
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said North Korea had asked for a full lifting of sanctions at the Hanoi summit, but lacked complete clarity on what it could offer in connection with the dismantling of the Yongbyon nuclear facility.

"They were very candid about what they were willing to do at Yongbyon, but there was no clear clarity about the full extent of what they were willing to offer," Pompeo told a news conference during a brief visit to Manila.

Pompeo added that the United States is keen to return to the table to continue those talks, noting that North Korea has basically requested a complete exemption from sanctions.

The second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un collapsed on Thursday over sanctions against Pyongyang. Both sides offered contradictory interpretations of what had happened.
